1. CHE Ranking (May 3, 2011) 
Jacobs University got excellent marks in the the latest ranking by Germany’s Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) and renowned German newspaper DIE ZEIT. In the fields of sociology and political sciences Jacobs counts among the best universities in Germany and neighboring countries.

2. Graduation: Congratulations to the Class of 2011 (June, 3, 2011)
Jacobs University’s graduates have again reached a highly impressive success rate of 94% as a total of 369 students from 66 nations finished their studies at Germany’s only English-language university. 222 students left the Jacobs campus with a Bachelor degree, 85 earned a Master and 62 received their PhD.

3. Sparkasse Scholarship 2011 (Dec 1, 2011)
Mihai Munteanu, a first-year mathematics student at Jacobs University was awarded the first Sparkasse Scholarship for Mathematics, endowed with €21,600. The 19-year-old Rumanian is the first recipient of the award, which was donated by Sparkasse Bremen.

4. Jacobs starts new academic year with record numbers (Sept 9, 2011)
On September 1, Jacobs University starts the new academic year with a record number of students: 1290 students from 110 nations are now living and studying on campus, amongst them 677 undergraduates, 603 graduates and 10 international foundation year students.

5. Jacobs University: the first ten years (Sept 17, 2011)
On September 17, 2011, Jacobs University celebrated its 10th anniversary. Among the 1,500 invited guests were 250 Jacobs Alumni from all over the world as well as numerous representatives from the fields of science, politics and business.

6. Grant success (July 29, 2011)
Fantastic news for Jacobs Alumna Amanda Valeta: The 24-year-old from Zimbabwe, who graduated from Jacobs University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology (BCCB) in 2009, will receive the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) International Student Research Fellowship.

7. Jacobs University welcomes new visiting students (January 25, 2011)
Jacobs University welcomes a group of 28 new guest students from the United States and Italy, who arrived on January 25th and will join the campus community for the upcoming spring semester. The visit is based on the well-established cooperation with Lafayette College, a university with excellent undergraduate teaching located in Pennsylvania.

8. Apetito: Food for thought (July, 5, 2011)
When Jacobs students return to campus on August 25 they will be able to sample new food menus at their college serveries provided by Jacobs’ new caterer Apetito. The Rheine-based company has been operating on the German catering market for more than 50 years.

9. Tolerance study: Tight or loose cultures? (June 9, 2011)
Prof. Dr. Klaus Boehnke, Professor of Social Science Methodology at Jacobs University, and a team of researchers from 32 countries have shed a light on acceptable and unacceptable forms of behavior in different cultures and the varying degrees of tolerance attributed to deviating demeanor. The findings have now been published in world-leading academic journal Science.

10. JacoBus Challenge: The winners (April 29, 2011)
Three teams from Jacobs University have come out tops in the inaugural JacoBus Challenge business competition. The winners submitted business ideas dealing with the set topic of “Education, Information and Communication”.
