Beginning with the traditional graduate procession, the ceremony continued with a welcome speech by the academic chair of the program, Professor Andreas Bausch. He congratulated the students for their hard work and dedication during the course of study and wished them a successful future career in the challenging utility market. Greetings were also expressed by Professor Joachim Treusch, President of Jacobs University, the Key Note Speaker Dr. phil. habil. Klaus-Jürgen Grün, economic philosopher and author, and the representatives of the Executive MBA Class 2012.

In their graduation speeches, the representatives of the EUM Class 2012 emphasized their conviction that the participation in the program will prove to be an important step in their careers. It allowed them to learn more about the business in the energy market, especially by the very fruitful exchange of opinions with the instructors and the other participants throughout the courses. The provision of new perspectives on complex questions will support them to meet the challenges of the European utility market. Furthermore, they highly valued the network, which they built among each other during their studies.

Following the life-long learning trend, the main reason behind the decision of EUM students to go back to university after several years of work experience is to meet the increasing demand, particularly in the utility sector, for highly qualified professionals with a global understanding of business and management issues. Jacobs University’s transdisciplinary Executive MBA program in EUM has been developed in close cooperation with high-level industry experts and is worldwide unique because it combines specific utility industry knowledge with the imparting of essential management skills as well as intercultural competences.
