Collect information

Which companies or institutions are attending the fair? Which ones are interesting and applicable to me?

TIP: You can find the exhibitor list in the "Program and Exhibitor Catalogue" PDF file and further information on the respective websites of the companies.

Prepare a Question Catalogue

Prepare yourself for contact with a Human Resources Manager. Stand out with smart questions, be thoughtful, and listen well. Show that you have done your research, what you learned, and ask for more. Keep the focus on the job and the company. Share an example or story about what you bring and how you could fit in with their organization’s mission.

TIP: This is not the time to ask about salary or benefits!

Prepare your Elevator Speech

An elevator speech, pitch, or statement, is a brief summary used to quickly and simply define who you are, as well as your abilities and strengths. The name “elevator pitch” reflects the idea that it should be possible to deliver the summary in the time span of an elevator ride, or approximately thirty seconds to two minutes.

TIP: Even if all companies can be contacted in English, your elevator speech in German will be much appreciated! If you need help with preparation, contact the Career Services Center.

Prepare your Career Fair Resumé | Curriculum Vitae (CV)

You should prepare a concise, well-structured CV, no more than 1-2 pages, which can be submitted to potential employers upon request.

TIP: Create your professional CV by following the advice offered by the Career Services Center. You need to register on JobTeaser to access the Knowledge Center. There you can find extensive and detailed information on how to structure your CV. For professional preparation and presentation of your application, please consult our online–tutorials. These resources are available for free to all Constructor University Students and Alumni.
