Radio Club

Pledari Grond is an on-going project started by the Radio Club founder, Suna Turhan, along with officers such as Sean Ames, Eva Cappuccilli and J. Eduardo Marquez, in order to bring music, news, entertainment, and events to enlighten and lighten up the lives of the students of Jacobs University. This project is an online radio run by the students for the students. As the Radio Club grows, so does Pledari Grond. In the Fall Semester of 2010, the club included 30 people from 10 different nationalities, making it a platform for multicultural exchange of ideas, information and music. This is Pledari Grond's strength, the richness and variety in cultures available only in a few places in the world. Hence the name of the radio station, Pledari Grond, a romanic word meaning "mega encyclopedia". The members found that not only did they benefit from learning about broadcasting and about building a successful radio station, but they also found themselves surrounded by people who they would normally not come across, due to differences in culture, interests, and/or age. Since Pledari Grond is a new station, only 4 semesters old, the members are forced to work together to create something new. Every semester the Radio Club members assess what worked and what didn't and try out new ideas and concepts, working towards a real and concrete radio station. If you are the kind of person that is interested in music, in news, in broadcasting, in programming, in administering, in planning events, in building equipment, in talking and building connections among people, then this is the club for you.
