J-Cappella

J-Cappella is the Jacobs University Choir, which was established in fall semester 2007 by Martin Noack. Building on a student choir that has existed since 2004, and has grown in the last years in number of members and performances as well as in quality. Angela Postweiler, who conducted the choir until November 2008 and is now focusing her efforts on her new responsibility as the conductor of the Bremer Domsingschule, created a joyful atmosphere that inspired everybody who likes to sing from all groups of the university - admin, faculty, staff, volunteers, and students.

Since November 2008 the musical leadership is in the competent hands of Ms. Rucsandra Popescu, a choir teacher who lives in Bremen but completed her education as a choir conductor at the Music University of Bucharest, Romania, as the best graduating student 2004. Our first and very successful performance outside campus took place on the 2nd of November 2008, at "Vokal Lokal" a concert series organized by the Kreischorverband Bremen in cooperation with the city library of Bremen. Since then we have performed at numerous on- and off-campus events, including two appearances in the Bremen concert hall "Die Glocke" in November 2009, and January 2010.
