Social Program

The costs for the Social Program are included in the registration fee. We will use one afternoon to visit havenwelten in Bremerhaven. Here, you will have the choice of visiting the “Deutsches Auswandererhaus Bremerhaven (German Emigration Center)”, which received the “European Museum of the Year Award 2007”, or the “Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8°Ost (Climate House)”, which received the “Clean Tech Media Award 2009”. You will have to indicate your choice during registration. Later on we will have Dinner close by. Being so close to the Northern Sea, we have chosen the "Seute Deern", the world’s largest wooden cargo sailing ship, now part of the Museum Harbor.

havenwelten
Havenwelten is a shining example of forward-looking urban development. The if's and but's of some sceptics have now turned into stunned surprise and admiration. Admiration for the attractiveness: Havenwelten attractively combines experience and enjoyment, culture and leisure time, business and commerce. Admiration for the authenticity: Unlike customary tourist attractions, Havenwelten is no artificial experience, but rather an authentic expression of a port city with a globalmaritime past. Admiration for the sheer scale: The central area of Havenwelten spreads over an enormous 150 acres (60 hectare) site. It extends all the way from the city to the outer Weser, from the Weserstrandbad (lido) to Kaiserhafen. Admiration for the sense of proportion: Havenwelten is the product of an urban development project scaled to Bremerhavenʻs particular fi nancial opportunities, i.e. always with an eye on investors and sponsors. Admiration for the farsightedness: Some projects have already been completed. For those still under construction, completion is in sight. An entirely completed Havenwelten will be playing host to the whole globe in 2008. We say a hearty welcome to the World and to Havenwelten alike.
