Admission Information - Deadlines

Candidates who wish to enter Jacobs University for the Fall Semester 2011 should have all completed application material sent to our office (either electronically or by post) by the following dates:

Students with more than 2-3 semesters of university, and adequate credits, may apply by November 1st as a transfer student for Jacobs University's Spring Semester 2011 (beginning in February). Applying as early as possible increases your chance of acquiring a place of study.

You should plan to take the SAT or ACT long before our university admission deadline in order to help ensure the possibility of completing your file.

Does Jacobs University want the admission material to be at Jacobs University by the deadline date, or simply postmarked by that date?

In order to have your application evaluated in the round, all your application must have arrived at our office by the deadline date. As most of our applicants apply from outside Germany, there can be a number of delays that may occur before we receive your mail. As such, your material may not arrive on time if only postmarked by the deadline, thus not giving us enough our admission time to read and properly evaluate your file.

If you know that the postal system in your home country is a bit slow, you may consider using a courier service, and taking note of the tracking number provided by the company. It is the applicant who is responsible for making sure that the material has arrived in our office on time. You can always write an email to the admission office to enquire about your admission status, to see if all your materials have been process in our database. Email responses may be delayed. As soon as an application is complete, an email is written to the applicant to inform him/her in which round he/she will be evaluated by our team. At that point, it will then take 6-8 weeks for our admission team to make an admission decision.
