One Hundred Scholarships for International University Bremen

[ Jul 15, 2001]  One of International University Bremen's most important founding principles is that all qualified students--regardless of their financial situation--should be able to study at IUB. With this goal in mind, IUB is presently leading the fund-raising campaign "100 Scholarships for IUB." This unique program is addressed to members of the public in and around Bremen who wish to support IUB's innovative project in higher education. Of particular note in this program is the personal relationship and contact between scholarship contributor and recipient. In greater Bremen, more than thirty contributors have already agreed to sponsor student scholarships for one or more years. A one-year scholarship is EUR 15,000.

The community's identification with this educational project, the most significant of its kind in recent years, is very high. This can be readily seen in the involvement and support, both financial and otherwise, of numerous companies, institutions, and private individuals in and around Bremen. We are confident that by the beginning of the first semester in September we will have 100 scholarships available for students at International University Bremen. Those wishing to participate in the scholarship campaign can still do so. Ms. Andrea Gavriel, Director of Resource Development at IUB, will be happy to arrange for scholarship contributions, and will later facilitate and assist in establishing contact between contributors and their recipients.

The "100 Scholarships for IUB" campaign embodies the philosophy behind International University Bremen: to offer a high-quality academic education at a small, private university, supported by leading figures in business and science who are interested in the further development of Bremen's role in science and research. With their support such individuals are contributing to the needed reorientation and diversification of the German higher education landscape.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Gavriel (ag@iu-bremen.de), tel. 0421 200-4401, for further assistance.
