INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY BREMEN

Across borders: IUB graduate students give an insight into their work

On September 26th and 27th the first Graduate Student Conference will take place at International University Bremen. The conference, organized by the IUB Graduate Student Association (GSA), aims to initiate and strengthen the trans- and interdisciplinary exchange between graduate students of different fields and to provide them with the opportunity to present their work.

[ Sep 25, 2003]  On Friday afternoon and all day on Saturday twelve graduate students, who are currently working towards their master's and doctorate degree, will give an insight into their current work. The conference program includes scientific talks from the areas of psychology, computer science, electrical engineering, chemistry, history, bioinformatics, neurosciences, art history, and geosciences. All talks will be held in English.

With this conference the organizers want to facilitate active scientific exchange between graduate students of different fields. Therefore all talks will be presented in a way that they will also be understandable for students and scientists of other disciplines. Besides graduate students and professors, undergraduate students and the interested public are also invited to attend this conference.

The idea to set up such a conference was born earlier this year with the founding of the IUB Graduate Students Association. In its administrative and representative function the GSA facilitates communication between graduate and undergraduate students, faculty and administration of IUB and works towards promoting graduate students interests and their research inside and outside IUB. Currently around 80 students are enrolled in graduate programs at IUB.

The complete program can be found here. The conference starts on Friday at 2:00 pm and will last until 5:30 pm on Saturday. The conference will take place in the Conrad Naber Lecture Hall in the Reimar Lüst Hall on the IUB campus.
