INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY BREMEN

Summer School at IUB: ”Advanced Modeling of Biological Function”

From 7.-13. August the Summer School addresses students as well as post-docs. The workshop focuses on computational modeling of complex biological data. The Summer School offers students and postdocs the opportunity to advance their understanding on computational approaches to model complex data on biological interaction networks and structures.

[ Aug 03, 2004]  Computational modeling of complex biological data on sequences, structures and interactions is of increasing importance to understand biological functions. 50-60 students and post-docs from 10 different countries will participate in the workshop. The first part of the Summer School will focus on current approaches to model interaction and gene expression networks. This involves discussion of theoretical concepts as well as evaluation and analysis of experimental data.

Lectures and talks by international experts will be given during morning sessions. In the afternoons students and postdocs have the opportunity to present and discuss their own research. Focus of the second part is the computational modeling of biological structures and prediction of interaction geometries of biomolecules. These areas belong to very rapidly developing aspects of computational modeling of biological data.

Further participants are welcome; all lectures and discussions are free. All talks will be given in the lecture hall of the Research II building on IUB campus.
