IUB graduate student invited to give prestigious talk

   

Guenter Rottenfusser, graduate student in mathematics at IUB, gives a talk at the "Studierendenkonferenz der deutschen Mathematiker Vereinigung."

[ Sep 17, 2002]  The "Studierendenkonferenz der deutschen Mathematiker Vereinigung" is an annual meeting for the best mathematical students in Germany. As one of the top five students, who are chosen to give a talk on their research, Guenter Rottenfusser will speak about his diploma (master) thesis, "Escaping points of the cosine family," which he wrote under the supervision of IUB professor Dierk Schleicher.

Twenty-seven-year-old Guenter Rottenfusser grew up in Munich and studied mathematics at the Technical University of Munich. He graduated in April 2002 with a Diploma (Masters Degree) in Mathematics. He is working in the area of complex iteration theory.

In April 2002 he followed Schleicher to IUB to pursue his Ph.D. studies. His Ph.D. research is on a more general approach to the iteration of entire transcendental functions.
