Construction work on Alfried Krupp-College nears completion

[ Feb 04, 2003]  Work on the final phase of IUB's first residence hall, Alfried Krupp-College, is almost complete. This week, the new masters, Prof. Hartmut Wessler and his wife, Marita Hartnack, moved into the top floor apartment in the attached "cube."

The pre-existing structure consisted of three detached buildings which had already served once before as dormit

In the first phase of construction, completed just as classes began in 2001, three existing red-brick residence halls were extensively remodeled and updated for campus living. Students have their own separate rooms and share a bathroom in most cases with only one other person. In keeping with the overall concept of the campus, the intent was to make few but purposeful architectural changes to the existing structures, in order to break up the military sense...





joined together by a fourth wing with additional apartments and commons areas - study and recreation areas, as well as the college's dining facilities.
