14th annual conference of the European Association for Environmental and Resource Economics

   

From June 23-26 the annual conference of the European Association for Environmental and Resource Economics will be held at IUB. This year's conference explores the current changes and developments in environmental policy.

[ Jun 20, 2005]  With the introduction of the European CO2 certificate trading scheme the year 2005 marks the beginning of a new era in environmental policy. In the same way the transition to a higher share of renewable energy poses a lot of new challenges.

On Thursday at 3 p.m. the conference begins with a council meeting followed by a reception in the University Club. The conference program begins on Friday. Participants will discuss new developments in environmental economics in 5 blocks of 8 parallel working groups covering themes as:

* Agriculture and Environment
* Environment and Development
* General Equilibrium Models
* Renewable resources
* Environmental Policy
* Vaulation of environmental damage
* Climate Change

This year's event has been orgnised by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Pfaffenberger, IUB Professor of Economics, and his team.



European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE)
The EAERE is an international scientific association with the following aims:
* to contribute to the development and application of environmental and resource economics as a science in Europe;
* to improve communication and contacts between teachers, researchers and students in environmental and resource economics in different European countries;
* to develop and encourage cooperation between university level teaching institutions and research institutions in Europe.

Founded in 1990, EAERE currently has over 400 members from Europe and beyond, from academic institutions, the public sector, and private industry. Interests range from traditional economics, agricultural economics, forestry, and natural resource schools.
