Since June 20, 3rd year IUB student Artur Palacz, has been on board the research vessel Pelagia. Majoring in GeoAstro, Artur chose do an internship on Oceanography within the EU research program "HERMES". With great enthusiasm he joined the work aboard. His reward: the naming of a deep sea coral reef "Artur Mounds".

[ Jul 06, 2005]  In Galway, Ireland, the Pelagia hoisted anchor for it's three week excursion. During the cruise, aspects of the ecology and biology of cold water coral reefs in the NE Atlantic Ocean are studied. For detailed information you can check Artur's online diary. The cruise lasts until the 22nd of July.

Internships are an integral part of the bachelor degree at IUB. All students must account for 12 weeks of internship.
