Let the Games Begin!

IUB Students will lift their eyes from their books and pull on their sports gear as the fifth IUB Olympix are officially opened on Friday, September 23rd. For an entire weekend, “athletes” from more than 80 nations will compete in their respective college block teams, playing soccer, basketball or volleyball.

[ Sep 22, 2005]  As a special highlight of this year’s contests, the Olympic committee has introduced three “fun games”: Arm Wrestling, Clothes Relay and Dodge Ball. Here, students (and faculty) can show off their muscles and prove their dressing skills. Also expect a great show when the famous cheerleading competition returns!

The organization committee can rely on a promising team of referees and staff: Host families, Resident Associates, and Volunteers will give out points and declare the winners of the competitions to guarantee that in the end the best college gets to lift the prestigious trophy. College III enters the Games as the defending champion but Krupp and Mercator will give their best to claim the honour for their college. Friends and neighbours are invited to come out to cheer for a team and enjoy the breathtaking competitions of the IUB Olympix 2005.
