Lecture by Bulgarian Ambassador at IUB

   

On March 1, 2006, Dr. Meglena Ivanova Plugtschieva-Alexandrova, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria, will lecture on "Bulgaria's Economy - Current Developments and perspectives on the dawn of the accession to the European Union“.

[ Feb 23, 2006]  In her lecture the ambassador will introduce Bulgaria's means and efforts to achieve the aim of joining the European Union in January 2007. On May 17, the European Commission will present a monitoring report which will look at, among other things, Bulgaria's performance in the fields of judiciary reform and combating high-level corruption.

The lecture is organized in cooperation with the Bremen Chamber of Commerce. The public German language lecture begins at 7.30 p. m. and takes place in the conference room of IUB's Campus Center.

Dr. Meglena Ivanova Plugtschieva-Alexandrova
After studying forestry and ecology in Sofia, Dr. Meglena Plugtschieva-Alexandrova finished her doctorate in 1989. Subsequently she worked for the governmental institute for environmentalism and was member of the Bulgarian parliament from 1995-2001. From 2001-2004 she was Deputy Minster of Agriculture and Forestry. Since 2004 she is Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Germany.

7.40 p.m.: Lecture: „Bulgaria’s Economy – Current Developments and perspectives on the dawn of the accession to the European Union“ followed by a discussion

8.30 p.m.: Reception and entertainment program by Bulgarian IUB students
