SichtWeisen-Anniversary: IUB and Glocke celebrate 20th event of the successful lecture series

On April 3rd, IUB is celebrating a little anniversary: the 20th event of the lecture series SichtWeisen. Initiated in spring 2003 by International University Bremen in corporation with the concert hall “Die Glocke”, the series features six events a year, three in the spring and three in the fall.

[ Mar 29, 2006]  The anniversary event on Monday, April 3rd 2006, at 20:00 in the “Kleiner Saal” of the Glocke, will discuss the topic “Pace and Dates – How time determines our lives.” Prof. Dr. Bernhard Kramer, Physicist and Dean of the School of Engineering and Science, and Dr. Jens Förster, Professor of Psychology, take the visitors on a time travel across the universe, from the big bang till modern time management. Can time stop? How can one learn to organize time more carefully? How is time created in our heads? The artistic contribution is provided by Rolf Bach and Christine Dorner, actors at “Stadttheater Bremerhaven.” Afterwards, IUB and Glocke would like to invite the audience for a champagne reception with live piano music in the foyer of the Glocke. Jazz Singer Evelyn Frisinger presents a selection of songs taken from her CD “Time is everything.” She will be accompanied by Dennis Volk on the piano.
Fans of comedy will enjoy the 8th of May. Cabaret artist Anka Zink, known from the ZDF talk “Blond am Freitag” will put smiles on people’s faces. Topic of the night: “Genes and Google – the search of the needle in the hay.” Biochemist Prof. Dr. Albert Jeltsch and Dr. Michael Kohlhase, Professor of Informatics, present how technical and biological systems handle huge amounts of data and allow to find the metaphorical needle in the hay.
