Our global society is being destabilized by the inequality of educational opportunity. Educational access, equity, quality, and school completion rates vary greatly in countries around the world. An acute teacher shortage threatens progress and the uneven accessibility to technology is creating discrepancies into the haves and have-nots. Does globalization require the redefinition of education basics? Are reading, writing, and arithmetic enough?
