“Where is that - Vegesack?” - Orientation Week at IUB

On August 26, 2006 the campus will be buzzing again with activity. IUB welcomes more than 300 students from 55 nations for the fall semester. About 220 students start their bachelor's studies while another 100 join graduate programs. The freshmen will start their IUB experience with the Orientation Week, August 26 till September 1. Here, they get to know all about IUB and its neighbourhood.

[ Aug 22, 2006]  For many of the new bachelor students it is their first longer stay abroad. Orientation Week will introduce them to the new stage in their life and answer many important questions: Who is working in the administration - and what are they doing? What are the different majors all about? Who is my advisor? Where do I get my laptop? And where is that - Vegesack? Furthermore, an Intercultural Understanding Workshop will introduce students to the new international environment they will live and work in.

Though an English speaking university, IUB is a German institution. The successful host family program offers freshmen a precious insight into German daily life and helps students to get to know their host country. The whole IUB community, students, staff, faculty, volunteers and the host families, will party together during the All-University Barbecue on Thursday, August 31.
