IUB live in Shanghai: Video conference panel discussion
on intercultural training at China’s largest logistics fair

On September 21, 2006, IUB presented its concept of intercultural training in a panel discussion at the international fair “transport logistic China 2006” in Shanghai. Four IUB panel members stationed on the IUB campus met with company representatives and Chinese students present at the fair in Shanghai via a live video conference set-up. The live broadcast was organized by the Deutsche Außenhandels- und Verkehrsakademie (DAV) and could be viewed in Shanghai at the DAV fair booth at 2.15 p. m. Shanghai time.

[ Sep 21, 2006]  “transport logistic China 2006”, which takes place from 19 to 22 September 2006, is an international showcase of products and services for logistics and telematics. As intercultural interaction is an integral part of the logistics business DAV invited IUB to participate in the video conference to present the university’s experiences and expertise as a multicultural institution of higher education to an international audience. Moreover, IUB represented an example of Bremen’s structural change from an almost entirely harbour trade based to a more science oriented business center. The IUB panel members were IUB Vice President Dr. Alexander Ziegler-Jöns, IUB student counsellor Dr. Amina Oezelsel, Christine Souders, Director of Student Marketing, and Luis Escobedo, IUB alumnus and graduate of IUB’s pioneer class of 2004. Uros Urosevic, another IUB alumnus and pioneer, who is currently living and working based on a highly selective program of the German Krupp Foundation and the Studiensiftung ders Deutschen Volkes promoting students in the Chinese market, participated on the Shanghai side of the conference. In addition to the company representatives and Chinese students at the fair, members from the DAV and an editor of the German trade magazine on logistics “Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung” were present at the Chinese side of the panel.
