Jacobs University welcomes leading representative from ExxonMobil |
On March 28, 2007, Dr. Gernot Kalkoffen, President of the Board of Directors ExxonMobil Central Europe Holding GmbH and ESSO Deutschland GmbH, will visit the campus to report about his activities in the energy industry. As part of the lecture series “Business Leaders meet Jacobs University” the CEO will give an insight into the daily challenge to meet the oil and gas needs of an ever expanding global demand. The lecture is followed by a discussion and a reception inviting the students and guests to ask questions and to further get to know the petrochemical business.

The mineral oil group Exxon Mobil Corporation, formed in 1999 by merging the American companies Exxon and Mobil with their German subsidiary Esso, by its market value is currently the world’s largest company. Its activities include the refining and supply of petroleum products as well as the marketing of fuels under three brand names of the merging companies in more than 100 countries and over 35 thousand service stations. The company explores for oil and natural gas on six of the seven continents which involves a continuously seeking to develop proprietary technologies that provide a competitive edge. ExxonMobil has a development portfolio of more than 110 projects and is currently looking into a wide range of economic scenarios.
