Serbian ambassador on campus

   

On Wednesday, April 18, 2007, the Serbian ambassador to Germany, H.E. Dr. Ognjen Pribicevic, will be visiting Jacobs University. At 7 p.m. the ambassador will give a lecture on “Serbia on its way to the European Union”. The lecture will take place in the Jacobs University Campus Center.

[ Apr 13, 2007]  A diverse program will introduce H.E. Dr. Pribicevic to Jacobs University. After meeting president Joachim Treusch, the ambassador will be joined by Serbian students for dinner. Jacobs University professor Dr. Marion Müller, Professor of Mass Communication, will then give insights into her research on political iconology.

The lecture by the ambassador will start at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room. It is followed by a discussion and a small reception in the Foyer.

In his lecture, H. E. Dr. Ognjen Pribicevic will point out current developments in Serbian society and economics. What effect has the Serbian aim to join the European Union on the country’s developments? The ambassador will present difficulties and progress involved.

H.E. Dr. Ognjen Pribicevic has been a visiting scholar at Oxford University and a visiting lecturer at Princeton, University of Pittsburgh, Woodrow Wilson Center at Washington, D.C. and the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. He has published widely on the issues of democratization and transition in the Eastern European countries. Prior to his current post, he worked as an advisor to the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs as well as a senior researcher at the Institute for Social Sciences in Belgrade.
