JACOBS UNIVERSITY BREMEN

Successful Spring Open House

The 2007 Spring Open House at Jacobs University attracted over 190 prospective students, family members, friends and teachers to campus on Saturday, 21 April. Guests from as far away as Mexico came to learn more about what the University has to offer.

[ Apr 23, 2007]  The program began shortly after 10 a.m. with a short performance by student musicians from Zimbabwe, followed by an introduction by Dr. Alexander Ziegler-Jöns, Vice President University Development. Visitors were welcomed to join student-led campus tours, twelve sessions during which professors and students introduced some of the undergraduate academic programs, and a mini-fair - where visitors could ask more specific questions regarding studies here at the University.

Student organizations represented at the fair, such as the Debating Society and Martial Arts club, provided guests with a taste of life beyond the classroom.

This year's Spring Open House, organized by the Admission Office, attracted the greatest number of prospective student visitors and accompanying guests to date and was realized with the assistance of over 40 student helpers, more than 14 faculty members and other university staff members. The Admission Office hopes to increase the visibility of Jacobs University within the higher education world by continuing such on-campus events and by attending university fairs and German career days in high schools.

Interested visitors who may have missed this event may wish to schedule a personalized campus visit through the Admission Office. Our next Fall Open House is scheduled to take place in October.
