University Leadership Travel to China

   

From May 17 to May 25, 2007 Jacobs University president Prof. Dr. Joachim Treusch and SHSS Dean Prof. Dr. Hendrik Birus visited the People´s Republic of China to meet with renowned higher education representatives. President Treusch had the chance to discuss latest developments and challenges in science and education with Minister of Science and Technology, Wan Gang.

[ May 31, 2007]  Beginning his visit to China in Shanghai, President Treusch met the presidents of the universities Jiao Tong and Tongji: Jie Zhang and Wan Gang. Treusch visited parts of both campuses and got together with researchers and students. He attended the Chinesisch-Deutschen Hochschulkolleg (CDHK, Chinese-German-University Preparatory College) Symposium the following day and had the opportunity to present Jacobs University’s concept to students, faculty and press.

During the second part of his trip, President Treusch visited Beijing where he met German ambassador Dr. Volker Stanzel and representatives of German companies operating in China. At an information conference on May 24, he met with ministers and representatives of education from several Chinese regions to focus on the trends of university education. The symposium concluded the agenda of Treusch´s visit in Asia.
