Marion G. Müller Chair of the Visual Studies Division of the International Communication Association (ICA)

   

Marion Müller, Professor of Mass Communication, has been elected Chair of the Visual Studies Division of the International Communication Association (ICA) at this year´s Annual Conference from May 24 till May 28, 2007, in San Francisco, USA. Thus during the next two years, Prof. Müller is heading the largest international group of visual communication researchers worldwide. This tenure follows a term of two years, when she served as Vice-Chair of the Visual Studies Division.

[ Jun 18, 2007]  The ICA is the largest scientific organization for communication, representing 3,500 communication scholars in 65 countries. Since 2003, ICA has been officially associated with the United Nations as a non-governmental association (NGO). The Visual Studies Division is one of a total of 17 Divisions. This division of ICA seeks to enhance the understanding of the visual in all its forms -- moving and still images and displays in television, video and film, art and design, and print and digital media. The Visual Studies Division sponsors research in creation, processing, function, meaning, and critical consequences of visual representation.
