“While working in admissions counseling, I always regarded myself as part of a team, guiding prospective students through the most exciting and often stressful transitions in their lives to help make their dreams for the future a reality. The change of perspective – finding students, who will be able to fully develop their potential here at Jacobs University –, is not much different,” says Vivas about her new position.

Before joining Jacobs University, Marie Vivas worked at the Colegio Americano de Quito in Ecuador and the Escuela Campo Alegre in Caracas, Venezuela, as Director of College Counseling, where one of her main tasks was advising prospective students and their parents on the right choice of college, university, and academic orientation. In addition Ms Vivas served on many international committees on admissions counseling and higher education. She was President of the Overseas Association of College and Admissions Counseling and served on the Executive Board from 1995 to 2005. Ms Vivas has also been a presenter at several international conferences including, the Association of American Schools in South America, the European Council of International Schools and the National Association of College and Admissions Counseling.
