High Potentials for the utility sector: Graduates of the MBA program "European Utility Management" celebrate their final degree

   

On October 19, 2007, Jacobs University celebrated the second graduation of the part-time Executive MBA program in European Utility Management (EUM). Twelve graduates from European utility companies, among them E.ON AG, swb AG and Stadtwerke Hannover AG, received their certificates.

[ Oct 19, 2007]  After the traditional procession of the graduates, the ceremony was officially opened by the director of the program, Prof. Dr. Andreas Bausch, who welcomed the second class of Executive MBA students and expressed his pride in their successful completion of the degree. The congratulations of Prof. Bausch were followed by greetings from Prof. Dr. Hendrik Birus, Vice President and Academic Dean of Jacobs University, Key Note Speaker Michael G. Feist and representatives of the EMBA Class of 2007. The bestowal of the certificates concluded the ceremony.

Having successfully finished their first education and having worked for several years some academics decided to go back to university to enlarge their knowledge in „European Utility Management”. Their motivation was the high demand for well prepared managers and the excellent preparation for upcoming job challenges. The program is worldwide unique.

Over the course of two years, the graduates incorporated flexibility by meeting their job and study requirements. The program combines management, managerial economics as well as a soft skills training sessions on presentation and moderation. In addition to general management knowledge, the curriculum focused on market mechanisms and specific utility industry knowledge. The impact on day-to-day work proved valuable: students introduced innovative ideas and best practices to the company right away. At the same time they could share and exchange their know-how and experiences and address industry concerns during lectures and project discussions. Vice President Dean Birus thanked the class for their dedication and enthusiasm during their study : “I would like to express my great respect for your achievements. Keep your flexibility and the will to improve yourself you have already demonstrate during your studies.“
