„The Commerzbank Foundation is one of our first patrons to set a mark of confidence by donating the first named chair even before academic activity started at our university and thus proved to be an important ‘first mover’. We are grateful and happy, that the foundation continues its support of our dynamic development,” Joachim Treusch, Jacobs University’s president, commented on the donation. The Commerzbank Fondation announced the establishment of the Commerzbank Chair for Information Management for a period of five years and with an endowment of DM 1.65 Mio as early as December 2000, roughly one year before the university's official opening as International University Bremen.
