Future-oriented Management: TiasNimbas Business School and
Jacobs University begin Next Generation Leadership Program

Jacobs University Bremen and the German Dutch TiasNimbas Business School developed a joint program for advanced training of young executives, which prepares them to face the challenges of constantly increasing market and company dynamics. The English language Next Generation Leadership Programme combines topics of future-oriented management methods and innovative enterprise strategies with practice oriented training for leadership competence optimization. The six month long program, consisting of three on-campus modules in Bremen and Tilburg with integrated coaching and self-learning units, begins on the March 22, 2009.

[ Dec 02, 2008]  Global turbulence in the finance markets, recession fears and political debates on management salaries – Europe’s private sector urgently needs reflection of leadership roles and a sustainable adjustment of enterprise leadership activities. With this in mind, political scientists, sociologists and psychologists of the private Jacobs University and management specialists of the German Dutch TiasNimbas Business School developed the Next Generation Leadership Programme as a new qualification offer for up-and-coming executives.

The program is aimed at both, companies in need of qualifying their next generation of leaders for the new tasks at hand, as well as at individuals. Three one-week modules in Bremen and Tilburg combine state-of-the-art research-based information on business and organizational management as well as on the implementation of innovation strategies with the strengthening of individual leadership competence. Central to the program is a personal development track, through which the participants’ awareness for the challenges of increasingly responsible roles is raised by contrasting of external and self-perception. In addition, self-learning and coaching units with participants from other sectors and different nationalities support individual learning goals.

“The next generations of leaders face many new challenges. Organizations are becoming more and more highly dynamic networks. Information and knowledge is available worldwide. We must prepare executives for all these changes”, comments Prof. Dr. Jan de Vuijst, academic program director and manager of the Centre of Organisational Leadership at the TiasNimbas business School on the topical relevance of the program. “Knowledge is not automatically put into operation – and acting is not always guided by the available knowledge,” says Prof. Dr. Christian Stamov Rossnagel, Professor of Organizational Behavior and academic director of the program from Jacobs University. “Hence, in the Next Generation Leadership Programme we tie together theory and practice in a novel way: by the finely coordinated synthesis of coaching and self-learning elements with scientific contents, our participants acquire not only relevant and actual management knowledge, but above all the ability and competence to act.”
