Change in general management
For IUB the continuity in the Board of Governors is as important as the long-term perspective of the general management. Therefore the Board of Governors has already decided the successor to IUB president Dr. Fritz Schaumann, who will leave office on June 30, 2006. The Board unanimously elected Prof. Dr. Joachim Treusch.

The physicist will accept office as new IUB president on October 1, 2006. Since January 2003 he has been a member of the Board of Governors. In 1990, Prof. Treusch was appointed chairman of the Board of Directors of the Research Centre Jülich. Joachim Treusch was professor at the University of Frankfurt and at the University of Dortmund for almost 20 years.

IUB’s first president Dr. Schaumann welcomed the early decision for his successor: „I am glad, that Joachim Treusch, with his excellent knowledge of Germany’s scientific community, will take over this task. It is clear now that the development of IUB will be competently continued.“
