How long does a graduate program take?

Each graduate program consists of four semesters (two years).

Do you offer graduate programs in English?

Yes, we do. Our graduate programs in Computer Science and Software Engineering (MSc), Data Science for Society & Business (MSc), Data Engineering (MSc) and Supply Chain Management (MSc) are taught in English. The MSc program in Psychologie is taught in German (two-thirds) and English (one-third).

Program Features

What does teaching and learning look like at Constructor University?

Students usually learn in lectures, seminars, lab courses, tutorials, workshops, and excursions. Professors and all our lecturers are happy to give individual assistance and each student will get assigned a professor as their personal academic advisor.

Are internships part of graduate programs at Constructor University?

What are the job prospects after graduation?

Computer Science and Software Engineering (MSc)
• The Master in Computer Science and Software Engineering allows you to graduate with the skills needed to drive innovation in industry, academia, or through your own startup.

Data Science for Society & Business (MSc)
• Graduates of the DSSB program can work as data scientists, AI research scientists, business intelligent analyst, computational social scientist, consultant, data analyst, data management expert, data protection specialist, financial analyst, market researcher, marketing manager, medical data analyst and more. As data specialists in public relations, journalism, political think tanks, governments or international organizations they contribute their competence in digital data collection, management, analysis, interpretation, visualization and presentation.

MSc in Data Engineering
• From IT to finance, from automotive to oil and gas, from health to retail: companies and institutions in almost every domain need experts for data acquisition, data management, and data analysis. With an MSc degree in Data Engineering you will excel in this most exciting and rewarding field with very attractive salaries. Likewise, an MSc degree in Data Engineering allows you to move on to a PhD and to a career in science and research institutions.

MSc in Supply Chain Management
• The program prepares students to become decision-makers in a highly dynamic business world. Located in Germany, Europe’s leading economy and major hub for production and trade, the program is an ideal starting point for a successful career. Jobs are available in key industries such as automobile manufacturing, machine manufacturing, aerospace, transportation, precision manufacturing, and IT.

MSc in Psychologie
• Der MSc in Psychologie qualifiziert für eine eigenständige Tätigkeit als Psychologe/Psychologin und bereitet auf leitende Aufgaben im Gesundheits-, Sozial- und Bildungswesen, in Wissenschaft, Verwaltung und Industrie vor. Mögliche Tätigkeitsbereiche sind: psychologische Diagnostik, Beratung, Training und Psychotherapie in unterschiedlichen Praxisfeldern. Für forschungsorientierte Absolventinnen und Absolventen besteht die Möglichkeit, ihre akademische Laufbahn mit einer Doktorarbeit fortzusetzen.

Am I allowed to enter the German and European job market after graduation?

Yes. As a non-EU student you can apply for an 18-month residence permit from your local foreign nationals registration office to look for a job that corresponds to your qualifications. As soon as you have a job offer that corresponds to your qualifications, you can choose whether you want to apply for a German residence permit or an EU Blue Card for the next part of your stay. Students from the EU do not require a visa or a Blue Card to work in Germany.

How do I know if I am eligible for one of the graduate programs?

The best way to determine your eligibility is to look at the program handbook, especially the “Target group” section. An official eligibility assessment is conducted by faculty only once you have submitted your application online.

How can I apply for one of the graduate programs?

In order to apply, you have to register first and then fill out the online application form.

When is the application deadline?

I am going to graduate after the application deadline. May I apply anyway?

Yes, you can apply. Please make sure to include in your application your latest transcript and an enrollment certificate confirming the semester that you are currently studying.

When will applicants be informed about the outcome of their application?

You will be informed about our decision within three to four weeks after the submission of your complete application.

Is there a separate application process for international applicants?

No, the application process is the same for all students. However, there are different application deadlines depending on the applicant’s visa requirements. For more information on the application process, please visit the Application Information page.

Is there an application fee?

There is no application fee. You can apply directly and free using our online application form. Please register first under the following link. Afterward, you can fill out the online application form.

Application Documents

Which documents are required for the application?

In which language should my application documents be written?

Your documents may be written in English or German.

What should the letter of motivation include?

In the letter of motivation you should explain why you are choosing the program, what your background knowledge is, and what your research interests are. Also, we are interested in your future career plans. You should thereby demonstrate why you are a suitable candidate for the graduate program.

What should the letters of recommendation include?

Primarily, the letters of recommendation should include an assessment of your academic performance and qualifications.

Can the letters of recommendation be written by a nonfaculty member (e.g. an employer)?

Letters of recommendation composed by employers are generally welcome. However, please make sure that at least one out of two letters is written by a faculty member so that we can assess your academic performance and qualifications.

Language Requirements

I finished a university program where English was the language of instruction. What document should I submit in order to prove my language proficiency?

Please submit an official document issued by your university stating that English was the language of instruction during your undergraduate education.

I have a language certificate that is not TOEFL or IELTS. May I apply anyway?

Besides TOEFL and IELTS, we also accept Doulingo with a minimum score of 110.

May I send my language proficiency proof after submitting my application?

No, the proof has to be included as part of your application.

Is proficiency in German a criterion for acceptance?

The MSc in Computer Science and Software Engineering, Data Science for Society & Business, MSc in Data Engineering and the MSc in Supply Chain Management are taught entirely in English. Proficiency in German is thus not a criterion for acceptance. However, some skills in German are, of course, useful for everyday life in Germany. For the MSc in Psychologie which is mainly taught in German, proficiency in German is required. For details, please see the Application Information page.

No, there is no application fee. One can apply directly and free using our online application form.

How much is the tuition fee for a graduate program at Constructor University?

Tuition for the MSc programs in Computer Science and Software Engineering, Data Science for Society & Business, Data Engineering, and Supply Chain Management: €20,000 per academic year (9 months).

Tuition for the MSc program in Psychologie: €10,000 per academic year (9 months).

Are there any other fees besides the tuition fee?

Yes, there are additional fees, e.g. semester ticket fee and university fee. Please follow this link for more information.

I am an international applicant. What is my tuition fee?

There is no special fee for international applicants.

Scholarships and Financing Options

What kind of scholarships are available at Constructor University?

Constructor University is renowned for its extensive and generous scholarship program. Therefore, each applicant for the MSc in Computer Science and Software Engineering, MSc in Data Science for Society & Business, MSc in Data Engineering and MSc in Supply Chain Management is automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship. Depending on availability, additional scholarships sponsored by external partners are offered to highly gifted students.
Due to a lower tuition fee, there are no merit-based scholarships available for students of the MSc in Psychologie. However, scholarships sponsored by external partners can be offered to highly gifted students if available.

Do I have to apply separately for a merit-based scholarship?

No, you don’t have to apply separately. Applicants for our MSc in Computer Science and Software Engineering, in Data Science for Society & Business, in Data Engineering, and in Supply Chain Management are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship during the application process. The applicants will be informed about a possible merit-based scholarship after admission.

No, the proof has to be included as part of your online application.

When do semesters start and end?

Classes of the fall semester start in September and end in December. Classes of the spring semester start in February and end in May. Please note that the admission for graduate students is only available for fall semester. Prior to the start of classes, there is an Orientation Week during the last week of August. For detailed dates, please see Constructor University’s academic calendar.

When does Orientation Week start?

Orientation Week takes place in the last week of August every year (one week before classes start).

Visa

Do I require a visa to begin my studies at Constructor University?

In order to find out whether you require a visa, please see our Visa Information System.

How do I obtain a visa?

After being admitted and having secured your place in one of our graduate programs by transferring the enrollment deposit, you should check our Visa Information System about the visa application process in your home country. To have access to our Visa Information System, please click here. If you require a visa, your admission documents will contain a confirmation (Zulassungsbescheid) for the German embassy which can be used to apply for a visa.

How long does it take to obtain a visa?

If you have prepared all required documents, the process can take from 10 days to 8 weeks, depending on availability of appointments in each embassy.

Accommodation

Does Constructor University offer accommodation?

Constructor University is happy to provide its Graduate Students with attractive and affordable accommodation off-campus in the city of Bremen (room only). The fee for accommodation for one academic year (nine months) is 4.000 Euro. During the application process, students can decide whether they would like to use this service offered by our university or whether they prefer to find an individual accommodation on their own.

What does Constructor University offer students during leisure time?

Constructor University does not only offer an excellent academic education but also many opportunities for students outside the classroom.
