International Office
Welcome to the International Office of Jacobs University,
International learning and research experience is a vital part of the contemporary academic life and a prerequisite for a successful career. International Office, a part of the Office for Academic Affairs, is glad to offer its services to students and researchers of Jacobs University, visiting and exchange students, and international scholars.
Services
The goal of the International Office is to provide you with full information on the study abroad opportunities available to you at Jacobs University. The International Office is your first contact for planning and organizing a research/study trip abroad or a visit to Jacobs University. The office designs programs to assist Jacobs University students and scholars in acquiring international experience.
If you are a Jacobs University student, who wishes to organize her/his exchange semester, please address the Outgoing Students webpage to find out about necessary procedures.
The International Office develops projects and programs to attract visiting and exchange students and scholars to experience academic life at Jacobs University. If you are a student who would like to become a part of the Jacobs University international academic community please visit the Incoming Students webpage for further information.
Programs
The International Office offers two types of programs for study abroad.
The Exchange Program allows Jacobs University students to be directly enrolled at a partner university abroad for one semester, while a student from a partner institution comes to study at Jacobs University. This exchange is possible due to existing institutional agreements between universities.
Jacobs University also participates in Erasmus, the European Union's exchange program, allowing our students to participate in Erasmus Exchange Programs with European universities.
The Visiting Program allows Jacobs students to study for a semester abroad as visiting students at universities that have no exchange agreement with Jacobs University. Within this program you have the choice to select any university that offers academic programs similar to Jacobs University for a visiting semester.
Jacobs University hosts every year visiting students coming to us on an individual basis or within a framework of a tailor-made visiting program.
More information about Exchange and Visiting Programs is available at the Study Abroad Fair, that usually takes place at the end of November. Students will be notified about the Study Abroad Fair by email.
