Language Program
Although located in Germany, Jacobs University is an English-speaking academic institution with internationality and multiculturalism as its most distinctive features. Such a mixture provides Jacobs students with great opportunities for acquiring an intercultural experience in a multilingual community. The university is pleased to offer you help in acquiring necessary language skills for your academic work, better integration into your host country, or just satisfying your linguistic zeal!
Jacobs University offers German, Spanish and French language courses in cooperation with renowned language institutes: the Goethe Institut, the Instituto Cervantes and the Institut Francais. Language courses are only offered for Jacobs students and staff members. Courses take place on a regular basis Mondays and Wednesdays in the afternoon. Check the course catalogue for our current semester program.
Students can also pursue language studies in over 20 languages, at their own convenience, at the University Language Lab at the IRC (located in the language learning space). Six multimedia computers including headsets give access to a wealth of language learning software for either self directed learning or learning as a complement to Jacobs University's language courses.
The IRC offers this service in close cooperation with the Fremdsprachenzentrum der Hochschulen im Lande Bremen. The service is available during regular IRC / library opening hours.
