Fortführung des Kieserling, Distinguished Professor Of Maritime Logistics
Die Kieserling Stiftung fördert seit 2008 Prof. Jens Froese. Der Studiengang und die Zusammenarbeit haben sich über die Jahre sehr erfolgreich entwickelt. Mit dem Jahr 2012 endet der Vertrag von Prof. Froese. Mit Hilfe der Fördermittel konnte er viel bewegen. In seinem Team beschäftigt er mittlerweile sechs wissenschaftliche MitarbeiterInnen, die alle Projekt-finanziert sind.
Jacobs leads new EU project Green EFFORTS
Jacobs University is at the helm of a new EU project with the aim to develop strategic planning instruments for cargo terminal managers and port authorities to reduce the carbon footprint of seaports and inland harbors. The Green EFFORTS project started in January; it involves eight industry and science partners and is coordinated by Jens Froese, Professor of Maritime Logistics at Jacobs. Green EFFORTS is financed mainly from EU funds totaling €3.2m Euro.
Kieserling Foundation continues support
The Bremen-based Kieserling Foundation extends its endowment of Jacobs University's’ Maritime Logistics professorship for a further three years.

Logistics Forum: Rio de la Plata Region (Thursday, 10 November, 2011)
Rio de la Plata connects metropolitan Buenos Aires, home of approximately 30% of the population of Argentina, with Northern Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil and, increasingly, Bolivia. The common market of South America Mercosur within a market of 260 million people connected the region with Brazilian economy in particular. Germany is an important trade partner of the region, which shows a significant potential for development in the future.
Northern Maritime University Guest Lectures
On 18th April 2011, NMU project partner Gavin Roser delivered to the master students in the International Logistics Engineering and Management graduate programme offered by NMU partner Jacobs University a guest lecture on the topic “Ship Knowledge”. This is part of the lecture series within the module “Ship Technology” developed by Jacobs University.
