Deirdre Mc Caughey

Why did you choose MGH?

I chose the program because it offered a very interesting and modern take on studying history and it appeal to me instantly, particularly since I plan to write my thesis on the former German Democratic Republic.

How is the workload?

The workload is quite alot but again because the classes are so small, I have found myself enjoying the work as we always end up having vivid class discussions, which in turn allows for greater understanding of new topics.

What was something about the program you did not expect?

I didn't expect it to be so small and community like. This however has turned out to be one of the programs biggest advantages. Both students and professors get to know one another relatively quickly and so establish a good level of understanding and communication with one another.

Advice/Suggestions for incoming/prospective MGH students?

Email or come visit and chat to one of the MGH students. Although all the information about the university and Bremen can be found on the internet, sometimes personal experiences and opinions can help that little bit more.
