Tuition, Funding and Scholarships
Tuition
The Master’s program in Modern Global History does not charge any tuition fees. In turn, students are expected to cover their own living costs.
Successful applicants may also apply for student assistantships. Availability of student assistant posts varies over time and cannot be specified in advance. Student assistantships can only make up for a part of living expenses.
Funding and Scholarships
We strongly urge students to apply for funding on their own and in a timely way. Starting to look for funding a year before the program starts is not too early.
A Europe-wide portal for scholarships can be found at www.scholarshipportal.eu
Here are some websites to help you in your search for scholarships:
German Foundations
DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)
Konrad Adenauer Stiftung
Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes
Please note that some German foundations require that applicants speak fluent German to participate in events and seminars offered by the foundations (often required for scholarship recipients).
Other internationally active foundations and organisations
AlBan (European Union Programme of High Level Scholarships for Latin America) Special funding opportunities for students from Latin America
DAAD-OSI Program (DAAD in association with the Open Society Institute)
Special Areas are Central Asia, the Caucasus region and non EU Eastern European countries
