Christmas with Jacobs University's J-Capella choir
It might not be leading up to a white Christmas just yet, but you can still get into the festive mood with Jacobs university’s very own choir. The members of J-Capella are performing the last one of a total of three Advent concerts at Schlachte in Bremen on December 18.
December 8, 2011The concert starts at 4 p.m at Schlachte Zauber in Bremen’s Altstadt (Old Town).
J-Capella’s repertoire includes traditional Christmas carols, as well as new twists on old songs in a variety of languages. The choir is unique in that its singers come from 13 different nations and bring with them the individual music style from their homelands.
It brings together undergraduate students as well as graduate students, post-doctoral faculty, and staff members from university, who began rehearsing for the concert three months ago at the beginning of the semester.
Choir leader Claudius Hardt is looking forward to the performances: “Being as unique as the Jacobs University choir itself, the J-Cappella Christmas concerts unite the good old carols with joyful new surprises spiced by our singers from thirteen different countries, filling a cup of good cheer with songs in different languages and cultural backgrounds,” he said.
