Surrounded by the skyscrapers of London’s new financial district, the Jacobs Alumni used their limited time effectively to push long-term points on their agenda.

After general stock-taking and setting the future strategy, they wrapped up some of their current initiatives and put the finishing touches to the new ‘Alumni Scholarships’. These are due to start in the early autumn with more details to be announced soon.

At their February meeting in Berlin the board had started moves to support closer connectivity and networking among Jacobs Alumni across the globe. Class representatives and local alumni chapter have since been elected.

“For the first time, two of the class representatives joined us for our meeting in London, and the rest communicated in conference calls for part of the talks,” says Petar Perkovic, President of the Jacobs Alumni Association.

The board also decided a few months back to move the Alumni’s annual Homecoming event forward from its initial date in October. It will now coincide with Jacobs University’s 10th Anniversary on September 17 and 18. A general assembly of the Alumni Association and a reunion are also scheduled for the anniversary weekend.

Petar Perkovic is counting on the support of his fellow Alumni and looking forward to seeing many back on the Jacobs campus: “It will be a great occasion for the Alumni to not only celebrate their homecoming, but to also be closely involved in our alma mater’s 10th birthday celebrations.”

Registration for the ‘Alumni Homecoming’ is open until August 7, 2011.
