Behavioral and Social Sciences Laboratory
Study and research is organized into three units: the School of Engineering and Science (SES), the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and the Jacobs Center on Lifelong Learning and Institutional Development (JCLL).
The SES includes engineering and the natural sciences. Here, first year students acquire the fundamentals of mathematics and science. In the course of further study, they build on a strong foundation and deepen their knowledge by choosing a major.
All research and teaching within SHSS has an interdisciplinary focus. Transcultural and transnational themes permeate research and teaching, among the arts, humanities and the social sciences, and special areas of research.
JCLL is interdisciplinary in nature and focuses in research, teaching and consulting on the behavioral and social sciences aspects of demographic aging and its effects on the labor market. The understanding and facilitation of lifelong learning is an important element in this problem constellation.
