Dear freshmen,

as president, it is my great pleasure to welcome you at Jacobs University! Some of you will be in Germany for the first time. For some of you, it’ll be also the first time away from your family and friends for a longer period. You are taking your first steps on new and unknown terrain. Nevertheless, there’s no need to get nervous. Because, at Jacobs University we all take care of each other. You are amongst family and friends. You will feel safe and secure, accepted and respected, comfortable and relaxed – even with the knowledge that hard work and accomplishment lie ahead of you! Because we want to make Jacobs University a home away from home for you all. Orientation Week is not only the gate that opens to welcome you to our university. Above all, it is a week packed with opportunities. So make the best of them!

Sincerely yours,
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Katja Windt

Orientation Week is designed to assist you – as a new student – to settle into university life at Jacobs University. Our unique series of events will introduce you to your academic program, your academic advisors, faculty, your fellow students, your college, campus life – and life off-campus.

With the help of our student advisors, graduate mentors and intercultural trainers, your transition will be informative, fun, and definitely unforgettable.

Orientation Week 2016 will be held from Thursday, 25th of August until Wednesday, 31st of August 2016.

Freshmen can start arriving on Campus on Thursday at 7:00 a.m. It is absolutely mandatory to attend, so please plan your trip in advance in order to arrive as early as possible during that day!

O-week 2016 Schedules
PLEASE NOTE: Minor changes might still occur. Please refer to the printed schedule that you will receive in your welcome package upon arrival!

Arrival
The Orientation Week starts on Thursday, 25th of August 2016 at 7:00 am. Once you’ve entered campus, there will be a Registration Desk where the Admissions Staff will welcome you and give you your welcome package. Light refreshments and drinks will be offered near the Registration Desk – so in case there is a line, please take a break and make yourself comfortable after your long journey.

For details on finding the Jacobs University Campus, please check our Campus Map.

Pick-up Service
If you are an incoming student and wish a pick-up from Bremen airport on your Arrival Day, August 25th, please contact by August 19th  your Student Advisor / GSA Mentors, so that the pick-up can be arranged accordingly.

Early or Late Arrival
Please note that August 25th is the earliest arrival date. We cannot offer campus accommodation to students who may need to arrive earlier, but we have prepared a list of Off-Campus Housing Facilities for such cases.

Although it is very important to attend Orientation Week in person, we do understand that there are justified cases where students cannot arrive in time on Campus.

For those students we will upload presentation material throughout O-Week on this website. Please stay tuned for further updates.
