Why a Bachelor in Physics?
- Jacobs University Bremen offers a 180 ECTS credit three year BSc program in Physics, which conforms to the guidelines established for the Eurobachelor's degree. In the first year students take a broad range of natural science courses and other electives from the humanities and social sciences following our transdisciplinary approach of teaching. After focussing more on physics topics in the second year, students in the third year take physics specialization courses and pursue guided research on a current experimental or theoretical topic in physics which then culminates in a bachelors thesis.
Why study at Jacobs?
- Small classes and personal attention.
- Strong peers. Jacobs students are regularly successful at international competitions and place into top graduate schools.
- Study in a truly international environment. The Jacobs student body is among the most diverse internationally and not dominated by any one country of origin.
- Transdisciplinary education. Jacobs offers many opportunities for stepping outside the bounds of a traditional disciplinary education.
Physics is the study of basic concepts like, space, time, matter and fundamental interactions. Physics lays the foundations for all other natural sciences and is a fundamental part of our every-day technologies. Due to the universal applicability of these basic concepts, physicists study objects as diverse as elementary particles, DNA, transistors, or galaxies. Research in physics was always a source of inspiration for mathematics and philosophy, but it also continuously initiates the development of new technologies preparing for the future needs of our planet.
