Projects

Currently we are partners in the EU consortiums CyberEmotions and eCUTE.
At Jacobs University we are involved in the Research Centers VisComX and CoWell.

Laboratory

Our research facilities are part of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Laboratory (Lab III) at Jacobs University Bremen.
 
Here are a couple of pictures of our testing booths (where our participants engage in the experimental tasks) and the control room (where the experimenter monitors the ongoing study).

Methodology

Depending on the question under investigation we may use different experimental techniques. However, characteristc of our lab and the method we are specialized in is facial electromyography (facial EMG). You can read more about this technique here. Together with facial EMG measures we often record heart rate and electrodermal activity (e.g., skin conductance) which are also established indicators of changes in a person's emotional state.
