Concept


The Master’s Program (two years) in Global Visual Communication at Jacobs University is designed for an international student body and a faculty strongly committed to interdisciplinary studies. An MA degree is offered in Global Visual Communication. After the MA phase, students may continue their studies in the doctoral program of the inter-university Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS).

The program consists of three semesters of study and one semester for the MA thesis.

Active participation in a research colloquium as well as a total of nine seminars and lectures in the following fields are required:

  • Classical and Contemporary Theory
  • Comparative Communication
  • Visual Communication
  • Transnational and Global Communication
  • Advanced Qualitative & Quantitative Methods
  • Optional courses (from the School’s MA programs International Relations, Modern Global History, Intercultural Humanities)
