Visiting and exchange students come to Jacobs University from around the world, and getting to know Germany and Europe is often a priority. With a series of excursions designed from a student perspective and tailor made to tie in to relevant academic courses (eg. "German Politics and Culture"), Jacobs University is a great home-base for exploring Europe.
The excursion program varies depending on the desires of sending institutions and students, but Brussels and Berlin are generally always included because of their political and cultural relevance to Germany and the European Union.
European excursion program takes students to a variety of cities, including:
- St. Petersburg
Students are also encouraged to travel independently outside of the framework provided by Jacobs University. Bremen has excellent rail and bus connections heading both East and West, and international students are often pleasantly surprised at how affordable travel can be. This is particularly true because of Bremen's status as a transfer hub for a number of low-cost airlines flying multiple times per week to the UK, Poland, Spain and beyond.
