Orientation Days

Jacobs University has developed a specific orientation program designed to provide visiting students with all of the information necessary for a successful semester abroad. Although the schedule varies year to year, the orientation program generally contains the following:

Day 1
Morning Arrival at Bremen and pick-up at the airport
Lunch Welcome Desk
Lunch Buffet with Academic Affairs Team
Afternoon Settling in and exploring campus
Meeting with Student Advisors to explore Vegesack
Dinner Dinner with Student Advisors in Colleges
Day 2
Morning President's Welcome to Jacobs University
Matriculation
Singing of the Academic Integrity Code
Introduction to language courses and "German Politics and Culture"
Registration, residence permit information, etc.
Introduction to courses at Jacobs
Lunch Lunch with advisors from the Office for Academic Affairs and International Programs
Afternoon Campus Tour with Student Advisors
Dinner Dinner with College Masters in Colleges
Day 3
Morning Introduction to college life and campus activities
Introduction to student support services, counselling, etc.
Presentations by Student Government and student clubs
Lunch Individual planning
Afternoon Tour of the Information Resource Center (library, etc.)
Vegesack Tour with Student Advisors
Dinner Dinner with Student Government in Colleges
Day 4
Morning Help-desk for course registration
Lunch Individual planning
Afternoon Intercultural Training
Dinner Dinner with the Assistant for International Programs
Movie night
Day 5
Morning Intercultural Training
Lunch Individual planning
Afternoon Meeting with International Office
Coffee and cake with host families
Bremen Nord festivities
Dinner Jacobs Open Party

Note: Information sessions on health insurance regulations and intercultural training are also offered during the orientation program (typically on a weekend).
