„The Discovery of Water in the Universe – Is there Extraterrestrial  Life?”

Multimedia Presentation and Talk on the Schulschiff Deutschland

Special Guest Speaker:
Andreas Vogel, Director of the Olbers Planetarium, Bremen, Hochschule Bremen

Abstract:
Water is essential for life on earth and there is an expansive abundance of it. 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water and oceans. Limitless sources of water have also been discovered in other regions of the unbounded universe! For example, hidden under the icy crust of Jupiter’s moon there seems to be an immeasurable ocean even vaster than all of the earth’s oceans put together. Modern scientists suspect that there could be limitless exotic water worlds nestled even deeper into the vast unbounded regions of the solar system. Planets in the exo-planetary system of Trappist-1 could also own multiple water worlds. Does the existence of water allow alien life on other planets to develop there?

Registration details:
This is a scientific public lecture in the context of the Inauguration of the  „City of Space 2018“ year in Bremen.
