"Alexander von Humboldt and his Vision of Nature, Culture and the unifying Role of Man."

Pre-Christmas Candlelight Lecture and Discussion
Guest Speaker: Captain Klaus Müller, Bremen, Grohn

No one can say that we did not know: 250 years ago Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) already pinpointed many ecological problems caused by human intervention in nature.
We will discuss Humboldt's view of man and his values and explore how he tried to see nature, culture and human beings as a one unified whole, in which the diverse parts are all intimately networked together and influence each other.

Captain Klaus Müller was honored to sail the famous Alexander von Humboldt ship which rests in the Schlachte in Bremen. He inaugurated the 250 Year Anniversary lecture series for the city of Bremen in cooperation with the Übersee Museum, Bremen, the Gerhard-Marck-Haus, the Volkshochschule, and the Alexander von Humboldt ship.
We are honored to have him at Jacobs University for this inspiring event.
