The Rise of China: Challenges and Opportunities
Date: NOV. 17-18, 2016
Location: Jacobs University Bremen (IRC Eastwing, Jacobs Campus)
China observers have recently argued that the rise of China is about to come to an end. With this symposium, we want to contribute to this debate – in a nuanced way: What is the current state of the Chinese economy? What are key socio-economic challenges and opportunities? Should China fear a hard landing? Or is China rather approaching a ‘new normal’ (Xi Jinping), in which domestic consumption and innovation drive growth? What are global implications of China’s internal development? What does this mean for foreign companies working in China? We have invited several China experts and practitioners. Come and join the debate.
