Important Information

For the academic Year 2017/ 2018 our guesthouse is unfortunately not available for guest accommodation.

The Guesthouse is located on the beautiful campus of Jacobs University. During the academic year it provides short term accommodation for faculty, staff and affiliated guests (external lecturers, visiting scholars, parents etc) of the University.

The Guesthouse is not available for students.
The University Guesthouse offers 28 fully furnished apartments (16 single, 11 double and 1 triple occupancy). All apartments are non-smoking and pets are not allowed.
Facilities – fully furnished apartments with own bathroom (shower/ WC), fully equipped cooking facility, single or double beds, shared laundry room (extra costs occur), close proximity to the serveries and recreational facilities. 
Services - internet access, linen and towels, final cleaning. 

For bookings of 7 days and more: one weekly cleaning every Friday, change of bedsheets every two weeks on Fridays, change of bath towels every Tuesday and Friday.

Booking the Guesthouse

(not available for students)
Please contact housing [at] and include the following information: 
  • Full name of guest
  • University status if applicable
  • Exact arrival and departure date
  • Invoice Address and email address of the correct recipient
  • Payment method and details (see “Payment”)  
Booking requests have to be send at least 3 (three) working days (Monday – Friday) prior to arrival.  The booking is not confirmed until you receive an email confirmation from the Housing department. Please allow 2 working days for the processing of your request.

Payment Options
Payment by Guest (Cash, credit card, bank transfer)

Please provide the correct invoice address as well as the E mail address of the correct recipient.  To pay the invoice the following options are available:
  1. Direct Payment. Payment via Cash, EC or Credit card (only Visa or Mastercard with PIN) is possible at our accounting office during office hours (Tuesdays 14:00-16:00, Thursdays 10:00-12:00).  Please inform us at least one week in advance so your invoice can be prepared.
  2. Bank transfer. The invoice will be send via E Mail following your departure including all necessary bank information.
Internal Payment (University Project)
Please provide your cost center/ cost objective and ensure that the costs are approved by the responsible person.
Cancellation/ Change policy
  • Bookings can be cancelled free of charge until 1 working day prior to arrival. For later cancellations or non-arrivals we reserve the right to charge a fee of one night accommodation.
  • Any change requests need to be send to housing [at] and will only be confirmed upon receiving a confirmation mail from the Housing department. Please note that the Housing department is staffed Monday to Friday daytime.
  • Please be aware that a change of stay length can change the basis for rate calculation.
For groups of more than 5 (five) rooms cancellation and change policy varies.
General Terms
  1. For the duration of their visit every guest receives a transponder and key to the apartment. Loss or damage must be reported to facility [at] immediately. For a replacement transponder/ key a fee of 50.00 € incurs.
  2. If you have any questions concerning your apartment, damages, missing items or bookings please contact housing [at] Please note that the housing office is staffed from Monday to Friday daytime. 
  3. In case of any problems during the night time or on weekends that cannot wait until the next working day please contact the porter’s office at 4800.
  4. In case of emergency please phone the porters office at 911. You can also call directly the police under 0-110 and the fire brigade under 0-112. But please inform as well the porter’s office otherwise they cannot support the police or fire brigade to find you.
  5. In case of fire alarm please leave the building without delay. A fire escape plan can be found on the apartment door.
  6. All buildings/ rooms on campus are non-smoking areas. Smoking is only permitted outside of the building.
  7. Pets are not allowed in all campus accommodation. 
  8. Guests are not allowed to have guests staying overnight in the rented room. Please contact housing [at] if you need accommodation for further guests.
  9. Internet access is available via cable - please find a cable connection including cable under the desk or via Wi-Fi.  Log in details for the Jacobs Wi-Fi can be obtained from the porters (main entrance).
  10. Guests who wish to use our serveries in the colleges can obtain a Campus Card at the porters (main entrance) for a deposit of 10.00€ on which money can be uploaded. Money left on the card is refundable at the machine where it has been uploaded.
  11. There is a washing machine / dryer in the basement of the guesthouse and the college, which can be used by guests with their campus card (the price for using the machines can be found on the campus card terminal in the washing room). Please note that you will need to bring your own washing detergent. 
  12. The quiet hours are from 11.00 pm to 7.00 am.
Insurance & Liability
The guest is responsible for ensuring that all his/her personal possessions are adequately insured. Jacobs University does not provide personal possessions insurance and will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to your belongings for the duration of your stay, however incurred.
  • The guest signs the check-in Form and picks up the transponder/key from the Porters office at the main entrance of Jacobs University Bremen.
  • The accommodation will be available from 3:00pm (15:00) on the date of arrival stated in the confirmation.
  • Upon arrival to the room, please report immediately any missing / damaged items or untidy rooms to housing [at]
  • The accommodation must be vacated and keys/transponders returned to the Porters by 10:00am on the date of departure stated in the confirmation. Failure to return the keys/transponder in a timely manner may incur extra costs.
  • The accommodation must be left in a tidy and orderly state otherwise additional cleaning charges may be raised.
  • All personal possessions must be removed and waste disposed of. Any items left behind in the accommodation will be discarded.
