Marcus Conlé is a guest scientist at Jacobs University Bremen and an associate researcher at the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies in Hamburg. Before joining Jacobs, he was a research fellow at the IN-EAST School of Advanced Studies, University of Duisburg-Essen. He received a graduate degree in Modern China Studies and Economics from the University of Cologne and a doctor’s degree in Business Administration from the Mercator School of Management, University of Duisburg-Essen. His research interests include innovation policy design and the evolution of industries and innovation service sectors within national and regional contexts.
Research Project: Public-Private Collaboration in China´s Innovative Rise: Effects and Mechanisms (DFG Research Grant, 2018-2020)
The project, which is organized by Tobias ten Brink together with Cornelia Storz (Goethe University Frankfurt), analyzes the forms and results of cooperation between the local government, public universities and research institutes as well as private firms and entrepreneurs. It particularly focuses on the development of “innovation platforms” (chuangxin pingtai) as spaces for the development of localized innovation networks.
